What would an Oscars fashion review be without mention of Hollywood's reigning royalty?
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie looked flawlessly formal in black as they arrived at last night's ceremony.
We are obsessed with Jolie's ginormo green jewelry. It's like she chipped off hunks of the Emerald City then pinned said hunks to her ears. Also, it made us want a Ring Pop.
We were also obsessed with the completely inappropriate, blatantly obvious cut away to Brad and Angelina in the audience whilst Aniston spoke onstage. Classless of the control room, right?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jo-JEWELRY!.
That is to say, Beyonce's black and gold ensemble looked like an Oscars statuette. (One of the many fables about how the Academy Awards trophy received its nickname involves Bette Davis claiming the thing looked like her first husband.)
Keeping with that gown-to-trophy comparison: The dress is sort of a tarnished variety (not unlike Ms. Knowles' Oscar hopes!).
Hey, we can't love everything everyone wears!

Beyonce Resembles Bette Davis's Husband.
Ahhhhh. <---- That, fair reader, is us taking a breath of fresh air.
Said breath was delivered by the splash of color brought to last night's Academy Awards by Alicia Keys and Natalie Portman.
Do you agree that the pink (bordering on lavender) frocks were a much-welcome respite from the onslaught of off-white?

Love it. Sarah Jessica Parker's '09 Oscars gown has that 1950's glamor plus copious cleavage. What more could we ask for?
We kinda expected her to run down a flight of stairs and accidentally lose a glass slipper (and accidentally pop a boob out...).
Oh yeah. Husband Matthew Broderick was there too... but we nearly passed him right over in the presence of that glorious

High School Musical couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens did the black and white thing for their Oscars debut.
What's with the Disney girls channeling Barbie doll fashion?
First, there was Holiday Barbie Miley, and now, there's Vanessa's original 1959 Barbie look.
Also, why are we creeped out by our own decades-spanning knowledge of Barbie's wardrobe?

Sure beats being impaled by one's gown! *tugging collar*
For the 81st Annual Academy Awards, Evan Rachel Wood found a gown that makes her look tan (almost).
*magical*
"Jokes" aside, we think she looked fantastic. The gown is spectacular. And, c'mon, vampire chic is so in right now. Get on with yo' translucent self!

Evan Rachel Wood, Out-paled by Gown.
Before heading into the Kodak Theatre to pick up the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress statues (it's like they knew), Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz fit twice the glam into a single photo frame by posing together on the red rug.
Sadly, Penelope's beau Javier Bardem was M.I.A. (as was M.I.A.). But, we

We're lukewarm on Freida Pinto's first Oscar gown. Love the color. A bit unsure about the rest of it. To us, it's like the floor-length version of something a Russian figure skater would wear. That said, she could have showed up in a feed sack and looked 1000 times hotter than we'll ever be.
Well, even if her dress didn't win our vote, her movie sure did! And, the Academy agreed. Slumdog Millionaire cleaned house tonight!

Personally, our favorite gown of the night.
Marisa Tomei glammed up the evening's popular off-white trend with this ornately ruffled/folded Versace piece of perfection.

We know Miley Cyrus is known for her "Best of Both Worlds" thing. Her look at tonight's Academy Awards seemed to be hovering in purgatory between innocent teenager and adulthood.
Exhibit A) Cyrus cleavage.
Exhibit B) Holiday Barbie-esque gown.
We're not sure how we feel about this all... but she did look fantastic. Also, her dress reminds us of what might happen if you put a magnifying glass over Marion Cotillard's gown from last year.

Anne Hathaway wore that gorgeous number to tonight's ceremony (before changing into another dress to "play Nixon"... before changing back into it to be herself).
It makes us think of the dress Ariel wears at the end of The Little Mermaid when King Triton gives her legs and she runs out of the water to Prince Eric. (Weird turn for us to take there, we know.)
Do you like?

The show will take place in the Kodak Theatre, located in the massive tourist trap Hollywood and Highland complex.
Be sure to check back soon! We'll be bringing you the best red carpet photography of your favorite Oscar-going stars. You'll be bringing the opinion, deciding if their fashions are Oscar-worthy or just O'scary.
