John Mayer's Real Life Hot Wheels

MD 20/20: 06/03/2008 12:01 PM
Apparently the paint section at the Home Depot barfed all over John Mayer's car...

John gases up his new ultra bright Ford GT before driving off to his girlfriend Jennifer Aniston's home on Monday.

Before that, he drove the baby-blue-and-orange giant version of a Hot Wheels car to the home of his personal trainer, Harley Pasternak, for a sweaty jog through a tree-lined Los Angeles neighborhood. During the exercise sesh, he high-fived a videographer and invited him to join in on the jog.

Mr. Mayer then headed to lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel before gassing up and going to Jen's place.

It looks like John is living the ultimate life of leisure and luxury. Too bad this nouveau riche bro blew his dough on such a tacky toy.

you're an ass. that tacky toy is a monster. the paint scheme is a replication of the ford gt40 that dominated le mans in the 60s. learn a bit of history before you open your ass mouth. or just stick to taking photos.

I would never have guessed JM to drive a Ford GT. 500HP & questionable MPG. I would have assumed a Prius or other tree-hugger mobile. As for the 'tacky' paint job, its actually an homage to the Gulf Oil sponsored GT40s raced (& #6 won) at LeMans in the late 60's. Cool car & good taste in cars, but I would not have gone with that particular livery.

Maybe if you spent less time obsessing over celebs and what they are doing, as if it really affects your small little world you should go and learn about other things, become a well-learned person and learn to not speak in this great bit of "journalism." That paint job is one of the most historic color schemes that helped put an American car company on the map as capable of being able to build a better sports car than Ferrari. Obviously John knows a little something about American motorsports and pop culture history to buy a car that pays homage to these historic Le Mans victories.

Mayer drives a Ford GT with a paint job to honor JW Automotive's wins at Le Mans???

Tacky? How horribly off the mark can that comment be?

Mayer just went up 4 notches in my book...impressive sophistication and culture from this guy.
